Wedding · invitation wording
Most Indian wedding invitations now arrive on WhatsApp before the printed card does, and a well-written message does more than a forwarded JPEG. It tells guests who is getting married, when and where, and exactly how to respond, in a tone that fits the relationship.
Below are original templates for every situation: the formal note from the couple, the traditional invite from parents, a warm message for close friends, Hindi and Hinglish versions for family groups, and a short one for your status. Replace the [brackets], keep the details in the same order, and add your wedding website link at the end so guests can see the full schedule and RSVP.

Make it personal
Paste a template as-is, or do what these templates keep pointing at: create your free Shaadify wedding website, add every event with venue and map, and send each guest their own WhatsApp link. It greets them by name, shows only the events they’re invited to, and collects their RSVP (yes/no/maybe, plus-ones, meal preference), no app, no account for guests.
The couple’s names, the host(s), the date and time of each event, the venue with city (ideally a map link), what the guest is invited to, a dress code if you have one, and a clear way to RSVP. Keep it under a phone screen if you can and put a single link for full details.
For most guests today, yes: it is how invitations actually travel in India. The usual etiquette is: elders and close relatives get a call or a visit plus the message; everyone else gets a personal message (not a broadcast), and the printed or e-card follows if you have one.
Send a save-the-date 2–3 months before so people can plan travel and leave, and the full invitation with venues and timings 3–4 weeks before. Follow up with a short reminder a week out for anyone who has not RSVP’d.
Yes. Copy any template into WhatsApp as-is, or create a free Shaadify wedding website and send each guest a personalised link: it opens inside WhatsApp, shows every event with venue and timing, and lets guests RSVP per event (yes/no/maybe, plus-ones, meal preference) without installing anything.
