Shaadify vs Joy: which wedding website fits an Indian wedding?
Joy (withjoy.com) is one of the most popular free wedding-website builders in the world, and a genuinely good product: free hosting, Smart RSVP with meal choices, a connected guest list, password-protected pages, registries and cash funds, and a custom domain if you want one. Couples in India use it too.
Shaadify is narrower on purpose. It is built for the Indian wedding as it actually happens (mehendi, haldi, sangeet, ceremony, reception) and for the way Indian invitations actually travel: on WhatsApp, one personal message at a time. Here is how the two compare on the things that matter for a shaadi.

Where Joy is stronger
- Registry, honeymoon and cash funds built in: if gifting is central to your wedding and your guests are abroad, Joy is stronger.
- Password-protected pages and a custom domain, Shaadify has neither yet.
- A much larger template library and a mature mobile app.
Where Shaadify is stronger
- WhatsApp-first: every guest gets a personal link from the Guests tab in one tap, with a share card that names the events they are invited to. No copy-pasting links into chats.
- Indian multi-event by default: mehendi, haldi, sangeet, ceremony, reception each with venue, map, timing and its own RSVP: in themes designed for Indian weddings rather than adapted templates.
- Per-event headcounts with plus-ones and meal preferences, exportable as CSV for the caterer in one click.
- The editor is the live page: click text or a photo and change it in place; published sites refresh within about a minute.
Who should pick which
Joy: Pick Joy if you want a registry with cash funds, password-protected pages, a custom domain, or a big template library, and your guests mostly use email.
Shaadify: Pick Shaadify if your invitations go out on WhatsApp, you have several functions with different guest lists, and you want an Indian-wedding look without fighting a Western template.
Common questions
Is Joy free for Indian couples?
Yes: Joy’s website, RSVP tools and hosting are free, and couples in India use it. Its registry and cash-fund features are built around international retailers and payment rails, so check whether they work for your guests.
Can Joy send WhatsApp invitations?
Not as a native feature as of August 2026: Joy offers eCards/printed invites and a shareable link you send yourself. Shaadify generates a personalised WhatsApp link per guest from the Guests tab.
Does Shaadify have a registry or password protection?
Not yet. If either is essential for you, Joy is the stronger choice today.
